Baseball Recap: Irvine Gets the Win

While Irvine put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Sage Hill. The Vaqueros walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Lightning. That's two games straight that the Vaqueros have won by exactly four runs.

Sage Hill's batters probably weren't too happy with Drake Brito, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (he gave up three walks). Brito also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Irvine is 7-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Evan Tamayo was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Jack Dressendorfer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Irvine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Irvine now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Sage Hill, they dropped their record down to 6-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
