Recap: Nanih Waiya Warriors vs. Velma Jackson Falcons
The Nanih Waiya Warriors fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Velma Jackson Falcons on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 59-57. Nanih Waiya has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Velma Jackson to victory, but perhaps none more so than J'Ashton Williams, who scored 21 points along with five assists and five steals. Joel Fleming was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Nanih Waiya's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Velma Jackson, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nanih Waiya will face off against French Camp Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. French Camp Academy is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Velma Jackson, they will head out on the road to face off against McAdams at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
