Basketball Recap: Veritas Christian Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

Veritas Christian Academy has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 28.5 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They were dealt a 62-35 defeat at the hands of the Voorhees Vikings. Veritas Christian Academy's loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

Several Veritas Christian Academy players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madelyn Seifert, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Seifert has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 17 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Amya Cuddon, who posted nine points and four steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Veritas Christian Academy fell to 11-1. As for Voorhees, their victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

Veritas Christian Academy and Voorhees should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. Veritas Christian Academy will face off against Academy of St. Elizabeth at 4:00 p.m. on Monday up 153 places (83 vs. 236). Veritas Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.2 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Voorhees (ranked 45th) will meet Warren Hills Regional (ranked 327th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
