Baseball Game Preview: R-S Central Hilltoppers vs. Chesnee Eagles

The R-S Central Hilltoppers will head out to square off against the Chesnee Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Tuesday, R-S Central got the win against Patton by a conclusive 13-1. The win continues a trend for the Hilltoppers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won eight in a row.

Meanwhile, while Chesnee put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Blacksburg. The Eagles put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 10-0 victory. The win was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Chesnee's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for R-S Central, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.

Everything went R-S Central's way against Chesnee in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, as R-S Central made off with a 10-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hilltoppers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
