Volleyball Recap: Irondequoit Beats Greece Athena for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Irondequoit waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Greece Athena Trojans as they made off with a 3-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.

Irondequoit's got stronger as the match went on, holding Greece Athena to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-16, 25-11.

Irondequoit was led to victory by Leah Greco and Gia Meeks. Greco had nine digs, while Meeks had 12 digs and ten kills. Meeks is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had six or more in each of the last 17 games she's played. Lainie Hetherington also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Irondequoit's win bumped their record up to 18-5-3. As for Greece Athena, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

Looking ahead, Irondequoit will venture away from home to face off against Brighton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Greece Athena, they will host Churchville-Chili at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
