Baseball Recap: Canutillo's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Canutillo extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 16-6-2 in the process. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Jefferson Silver Foxes. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-6 on April 2nd.

Ian Melendez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in February. Ernesto Ramirez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Canutillo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.

As for Jefferson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

On Jefferson's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Moreno, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Canutillo will face off against rival El Paso at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles are on a three-game streak of home wins, the Tigers a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind. Meanwhile, Jefferson is set to square off against their familiar foe Andress at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
