Baseball Recap: Abbeville Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Abbeville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Greenwood Christian Hawks 5-4. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Trey Deason made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Deason was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Easton Townsend was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Grady Overholt, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Abbeville's record is now 2-0-1. As for Greenwood Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Abbeville will welcome Ware Shoals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Greenwood Christian, they will face off against Hilton Head Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Greenwood Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
