Nebraska Christian had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 60-37 margin over the Newman Grove/St. Edward Panthers. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Panthers are ranked 277th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Newman Grove/St. Edward had strong showings from Katelyn Werts, who on her way to 15 points and three steals, and Kailey Patzel, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. Patzel is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Piper Jarecki also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Nebraska Christian's record now sits at 18-6. As for Newman Grove/St. Edward, they dropped their record down to 2-20 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.
