The Fletcher Senators will take on the Atlantic Coast Stingrays at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fletcher is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Fletcher was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Sandalwood on Tuesday. Fletcher was the clear victor by a 10-3 margin over Sandalwood. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Senators considering their one-run performance the match before.
The team relied heavily on Ava Lowman, who scored three runs while going 2-for-5. Madison Rodriguez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Fletcher hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Atlantic Coast waltzed into their game on Tuesday with 11 straight wins... but they left with 12. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Mustangs.
Morgan Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Atlantic Coast's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Maggie Moody, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another was Audrina Bailey, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Atlantic Coast's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Fletcher, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Both Fletcher and Atlantic Coast just can't seem to miss. Fletcher has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Atlantic Coast struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fletcher came up short against Atlantic Coast in their previous matchup back in February, falling 4-1. Will Fletcher have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
