Softball Game Preview: LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls vs. Neumann Celtics

The LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls will square off against the Neumann Celtics at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. LaBelle is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

LaBelle had been on a five-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Evangelical Christian put an end to it on Tuesday. The Cowboys/Cowgirls came up short against the Sentinels, falling 10-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Cowboys/Cowgirls in their meetings with the Sentinels: they've now lost eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Neumann came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 16-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Celtics, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Cecilia Spencer, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Escobar, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Neumann always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.

Neumann's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for LaBelle, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.
