Basketball Preview: Gouverneur Wildcats vs. Franklin Academy Huskies
Gouverneur is 2-8 against the Huskies since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Gouverneur Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Franklin Academy Huskies at 7:15 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Gouverneur scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 85-29 win over Norwood-Norfolk at home. Gouverneur has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 21 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Raine Rumble, who scored 25 points. He hasn't dropped below 15 points for six straight games. Kaleb Platt was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Franklin Academy had just enough and edged the Raiders out 55-52 on Wednesday.
Gouverneur's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-9. As for Franklin Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Gouverneur, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 70-56 loss to the Huskies in their previous matchup back in January. Can Gouverneur avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
