Basketball Recap: Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton Takes a Loss

Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton was the 61-35 winner over Century when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 46-45 to the Century Centurions.

Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashlyn Stayton, who posted eight points and 16 rebounds. Stayton has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more boards the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Cara Tripp-Reams, who went 6 for 13 on her way to 15 points and eight rebounds.

Century can attribute much of their success to Nevaeh Mackins, who had 19 points. Kali Crain was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Century, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-7.

Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 36-23 victory against Galatia/Thompsonville on the 21st. As for Century, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-31 defeat against Shawnee on the 18th.
