It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Liberty ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They skirted past the Basic Wolves 10-9. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won four in a row.

Liberty got a massive performance out of Morgyn Vesco, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Vesco has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Portlynn Stacey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Liberty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Liberty's victory bumped their record up to 13-7-2. As for Basic, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-10.

Coming up, Liberty will head out on the road to square off against Centennial at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Basic, they will be playing at home against Eldorado at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Firehawks have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
