Softball Game Preview: Sublette Larks vs. Lakin Broncs

The Sublette Larks will head out to face off against the Lakin Broncs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Sublette is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight games dating back to last season back in March. They came up short against Southwestern Heights, falling 17-0.

Meanwhile, Lakin made easy work of Elkhart on Tuesday and carried off a 25-12 win. The victory continues a trend for the Broncs in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won nine in a row.

Kiah Beymer made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Beymer was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and two stolen bases. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taybree Lohman-Fuller, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Maelee Katz was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Lakin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .596. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.

Lakin's record is now 3-9. As for Sublette, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Sublette came out on top in a nail-biter against Lakin when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 9-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Larks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
