Basketball Game Preview: Northwest Guilford Vikings vs. Ragsdale Tigers

The Northwest Guilford Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Ragsdale Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest Guilford will be strutting in after a victory while Ragsdale will be coming in after a loss.

Northwest Guilford is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down Southeast Guilford 75-59 on Thursday. While the Vikings didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Ragsdale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a blow against Southwest Guilford, falling 78-50. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 581st, while the Cowboys are ranked 87th).

Northwest Guilford will have to contain Dashawn Ervin as he made an impact in Ragsdale's last game. He went 7 for 13 on his way to 20 points. The dominant performance gave Ervin a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Beatty, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Ragsdale's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Northwest Guilford, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.

Northwest Guilford and Ragsdale were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but Northwest Guilford came up empty-handed after a 53-52 defeat. Thankfully for Northwest Guilford, KJ Burke (who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
