Soccer Game Preview: Calhoun vs. Wharton

The Calhoun Sandcrabs will face off against the Wharton Tigers at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Calhoun is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Bay City just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Blackcats, falling 7-0. While losing is never fun, the Sandcrabs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 509th, while the Blackcats are ranked 251st).

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Wharton's offense. They lost 6-0 to El Campo on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Ricebirds: they've now lost five in a row.

Calhoun now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Wharton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Calhoun beat Wharton by a goal in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 1-0. Does Calhoun have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wharton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
