Preview: Central Square Redhawks vs. Corcoran Cougars

Central Square has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Corcoran Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New York (Central Square is ranked 183rd, while Corcoran is ranked 200th).

Last Friday, Central Square didn't have too much trouble with East Syracuse-Minoa at home as they won 22-6.

Central Square relied on the efforts of Jackson Mott, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, and Angelo Turo, who rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Turo was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 57 yards.

Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last matchup, Corcoran made sure to put some points up on the board against Rome Free Academy on Friday. Corcoran strolled past Rome Free Academy with points to spare, taking the game 40-21.

Central Square's victory was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.3 points per game. As for Corcoran, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Central Square beat Corcoran 25-16 in their previous matchup back in September of 2017. The rematch might be a little tougher for Central Square since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
