Madison Plains hasn't had much luck against Greeneview recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Golden Eagles will head out to square off against the Rams at 5:30 p.m. Madison Plains is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Madison Plains let Catholic Central stack ten runs on them in the fourth inning on Friday but luckily Madison Plains prevailed anyway. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by a 20-10 margin over the Irish. The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Irish recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Paul Madden made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Madison Plains: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 6-8 otherwise. Madden was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Xaiden Sharpe, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and two stolen bases. Madison Plains is undefeated when Sharpe posts two or more runs, but 3-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Rolfe, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Madison Plains always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, while Greeneview put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for West Liberty-Salem. The Rams skirted past the Tigers 2-0.
Not much got past Lucas Reynolds, who gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep West Liberty-Salem off the board.
On the hitting side, Nick Hassid was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Madison Plains now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Greeneview, their record is now 12-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Madison Plains has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Greeneview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Madison Plains couldn't quite finish off Greeneview in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 and fell 13-11. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
