Basketball Recap: Cromwell's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Cromwell couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 61-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Central Area Knights on Thursday. The Cardinals' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Cromwell lost, don't look at Remington Olesiak. Despite the final result, she went 5-for-6 on her way to 19 points. That's the most points Olesiak has posted since back in December of 2024. Isabella Anderson was another key player, putting up 12 points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Cromwell was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. This was only their third loss (out of 27 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Cromwell's defeat dropped their record down to 25-5. As for West Central Area, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 24-6.

Cromwell has already played their next match, a 69-51 loss against Walker-Hackensack-Akeley on the 14th. As for West Central Area, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-50 win against Goodhue on the 14th.
