Basketball Recap: Marshall Triumphs

Kirksville came into Tuesday's contest looking for another win against Marshall, but Deacon Arends wouldn't allow it. The Marshall Owls secured a 59-54 W over the Kirksville Tigers on Tuesday with plenty of help from Arends, who posted eight points along with nine steals and seven assists. He is becoming a predictor of Marshall's success: when he posts at least five steals the team is 5-1 (and 6-13 when he doesn't).

Chase Thompson was another key player, putting up 15 points and seven rebounds. His big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points.

Marshall's win bumped their record up to 11-14. As for Kirksville, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-9.

Marshall wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 42-26 victory against Hannibal on the 27th. Kirksville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
