Soccer Recap: Mater Dei Takes a Loss

Mater Dei was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 7-0 to the Althoff Catholic Crusaders. While losing is never fun, Mater Dei can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Althoff Catholic are ranked 42nd).

Mater Dei was without their leading scorer, Amelia Beer, in Monday's matchup. With Beer sidelined, Natalie Lynch got her first action of the season.

Mater Dei's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Althoff Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6-2.

Looking ahead, Mater Dei will square off against Southwestern at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Althoff Catholic has already played their next game (against Metro-East Lutheran), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
