Bronson is 0-6 against Williston since February of 2018 but things could change on Wednesday. The Eagles will square off against the Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. Bronson knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Williston likes a good challenge.
Bronson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Wildwood a 14-0 shutout. Considering the Eagles have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Presley Thomas was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brystal Howard, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Bronson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Williston was able to grind out a solid victory over Newberry two weeks ago, taking the game 7-4. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Sarah Hollender was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Hollender was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luna Asencion, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Layla Crago was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Bronson's record now sits at 14-11. As for Williston, their record is now 12-9.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bronson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Williston struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bronson suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Williston in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
