Standing Bear lost to Kearney back in April of 2025, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Grizzlies narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bearcats 3-2.

Mason Hiatt looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Standing Bear's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Froeschl, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Standing Bear hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Standing Bear's record now sits at 13-10. As for Kearney, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-14 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Standing Bear will take on rival Elkhorn at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Kearney is set to challenge their familiar foe Hastings at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
