Basketball Recap: Abilene Now 9-2 over Last 11 Games

Abilene won the last time they faced Lubbock and things went their way on Friday too. The Abilene Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lubbock Westerners, sneaking past 59-57. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while the Westerners are ranked 708th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Abilene has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Lubbock, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Abilene will be playing in front of their home fans against Mineral Wells at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. One thing working in Abilene's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games. Lubbock and Hillcrest will round out the year against one another at at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
