Maize South is a perfect 9-0 against South since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Mavericks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 6:30 p.m.

Maize South is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kansas' top teams: Bishop Carroll, who was ranked ninth at the time (Maize South was ranked fifth). The Mavericks fell 2-0 to the Golden Eagles on Monday. Maize South have struggled against Bishop Carroll recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between South and Haysville Campus, and South kept the tradition alive. The Cougars came out on top against the Colts by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday.

South is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those six matchups. As for Maize South, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2-1.

Maize South took their victory against South in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 9-2 score. Will the Mavericks repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
