Basketball Recap: Mackenzie Mcclain and Audrey Shaw Secure Win for Johnson County

Johnson County hadn't done well against South Greene recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Johnson County Longhorns secured a 77-71 W over the South Greene Rebels. The Longhorns didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.

Johnson County was led to victory by Audrey Shaw and MacKenzie McClain. Shaw dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards, while McClain went 5 for 7 on her way to 21 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. That's the most points Shaw has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Izzy Thompson, who posted nine points.

Johnson County's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-16. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for South Greene, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Johnson County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-45 loss against West Greene on the 28th. South Greene has also already played their next game, a 50-41 defeat against Hampton on the 28th.
