Basketball Recap: Prairie Central Comes Up Short

Prairie Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 55-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monticello Sages. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sages apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Prairie Central's loss dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Monticello, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.

Prairie Central and Monticello could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Prairie Central will square off against Tolono Unity at 7:00 p.m. on Friday down 374 places (469 vs. 95). Similarly, Monticello (ranked 252nd) will meet St. Joseph-Ogden (ranked 105th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
