Basketball Recap: La Joya Coyotes vs. Hanna Golden Eagles

La Joya's loss came despite strong showings from Aydin Wilder-Bey and Tito Garcia. Wilder-Bey almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds, while Garcia earned 12 points along with six assists and five rebounds. What's more, Garcia also posted a 57% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Daniel Trevino, who posted nine points in addition to three steals.
Even though they lost, La Joya was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Beto Galarza was his usual excellent self, going 15 for 25 en route to 39 points plus six rebounds and two steals for Hanna. Galarza has been hot , having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Alfredo Galarza was another key player, scoring 13 points plus seven assists and six steals.
La Joya's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Hanna, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-4 record.
La Joya wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 61-49 loss against Veterans Memorial on the 23rd. Hanna has also already played their next contest, a 52-51 victory against Palmview on the 23rd.
