Basketball Recap: South Summit Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous three meetings between South Summit and Union, and Union kept the tradition alive. The Wildcats were just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 57-56 to the Cougars. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wildcats came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Cougars are ranked 55th).

When it comes to explaining why South Summit lost, don't look at Jack Johnson. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points. Joey Harris was another key player, putting up nine points.

Having lost for the first time this season, South Summit fell to 5-1. As for Union, their record now sits at 5-3.

Looking ahead, South Summit will face off against Emery at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Union, they will square off against Morgan at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
