No. 16 Lake Travis dominates rival Westlake 51-3 in Texas Class 6A Division I quarterfinals

Cavaliers dispatch rival Westlake for the second time this season.

Lake Travis (Austin)
captured the Region 4 championship with a 51-3 win over rival Westlake (Austin) Friday in the Texas Class 6A Division I quarterfinals.

The Cavaliers advance to the Class 6A-I semifinals where they will play Atascocita (Humble), a 33-27 overtime winner over Northshore (Houston) in the Region 3 championship game.

This was the second lopsided win this season for Lake Travis over Westlake as the nation's No. 16 team also won 49-7 in early October. The defense dominated this time, limiting Westlake to a field goal. The Cavalier defense also scored a pair of touchdowns in the rout.

A finalist a year ago in the Class 6A Division II playoffs where they lost to MaxPreps national champion Katy, Lake Travis is playing in the Class 6A-I playoffs for the first time under coach Hank Carter.



The victory extends Lake Travis' win streak over Westlake to 10 games in a row. The Cavaliers have not lost to Westlake since 2007.
