Baseball Game Preview: Brandon Eagles vs. Freedom Patriots

The Brandon Eagles will head out to square off against the Freedom Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Brandon is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Brandon lost 14-2 to Riverview on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Freedom didn't have quite enough to beat Spoto on Saturday and fell 8-7. Even though they lost, the Patriots' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Jacob Antle was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.

At the plate, David Simpkins made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Tarr, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Freedom now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Brandon, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.

Brandon couldn't quite finish off Freedom when the teams last played back in March and fell 6-4. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
