Softball Recap: Lewis Cass Takes a Loss

Lewis Cass had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-7 to make it four. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Whitko Wildcats. If the Kings were looking for revenge after losing 5-4 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Lewis Cass saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Hubner, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Hannah Zamora also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for Whitko, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.

On Whitko's side, the result came thanks to Cassidy Skinner's shutout, as she gave up just four hits.

At the plate, Taylor Long was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

Lewis Cass didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-18 win against Eastern on the 2nd. As for Whitko, they will square off against Southwood at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games the Knights have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
