Football Game Preview: Sweetwater Red Devils vs. Hoover Cardinals + How To Watch

The Sweetwater Red Devils will challenge the Hoover Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 48-15, which was the final score in Sweetwater's tilt against Mater Dei Catholic back in October. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 556th, while the Crusaders are ranked 95th).

Although Sweetwater took the loss, they still got scores from Zane Willis and Sean Carlos.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Hoover walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Cougars 30-28.

Hoover found their leader in sophomore Hezekiah Manuel, who rushed for 87 yards and one score on only six carries, and also threw for 159 yards on only 14 passes.

Hoover didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jayden Cunningham and Taani Tuipulotu.

Sweetwater dropped their record down to 4-6 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Hoover, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
