Softball Recap: Nine Straight Road Wins for Montesano

Montesano made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Auburn Riverside, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Montesano put the hurt on Auburn Riverside with a sharp 10-3 victory on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Violet Prince spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 15 Ks.

On the hitting side, Jaelyn Butterfield was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Liv Robinson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Butterfield wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Montesano kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Montesano's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-3-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Auburn Riverside, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Montesano will be playing at home against Lynden Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Auburn Riverside, they will take on Auburn at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
