Recap: Marksville Tigers vs. Jena Giants

If the Marksville Tigers were feeling good off their 49-27 takedown of the Mamou Demons last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Marksville was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 43-42 to Jena. Marksville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Jena apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Marksville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Laylla Dorsey, who scored 21 points along with two steals, and Anneshia Reed who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 50% of Marksville's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Marksville's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-8. As for Jena, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marksville will play host again and welcome Bunkie, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bunkie will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Marksville surely won't give up without a fight. As for Jena, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Buckeye at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
