Basketball Recap: Covington's Undefeated Season over After Three Games + How To Watch

Covington was the 54-50 winner over Slidell when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Lions took a 66-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers on Tuesday. The loss put an end to the Lions' undefeated start to the season.

Slidell's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jalen Lucas, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 17 points. What's more, Lucas posted three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jerry Birdlow, who made all 6 shots he took to post 14 points and six boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Covington fell to 2-1. As for Slidell, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Coming up, Covington and St. Stanislaus will face off at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday without much rest, having both just played. The Lions will need to watch out since the Rock-a-Chaws have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Slidell, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pearl River at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
