Softball Recap: Hartland Snags Fifth Victory in Last Six Games

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Thursday. Hartland never let Lakeland get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. That's more bragging rights for Hartland, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Olivia Forrest was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Skylar Spisz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Avery Richardson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Hartland hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matches.

Hartland has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Lakeland, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5.

Looking ahead, Hartland will face off against Fenton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakeland, they will square off against Novi at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
