Baseball Recap: Holmes County Drops Season-High Score on North Bay Haven Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Holmes County). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the North Bay Haven Academy Buccaneers an 18-0 shutout on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Buccaneers: they've now won three in a row.

Bryant Mathis was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Carson Leddon, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Holmes County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Bay Haven Academy struck out eight times.

Holmes County's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.
