Softball Game Preview: Raleigh Lions vs. West Lincoln Bears

For the second straight game, Raleigh will face off against West Lincoln. The Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

Raleigh took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over West Lincoln. The victory was some much needed relief for the Lions as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Kallee McWilliams made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Haylee Buffington was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Lydia Bryant, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Raleigh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

West Lincoln is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-15. As for Raleigh, their record is now 10-16-1.
