Basketball Game Preview: Boerne-Champion Chargers vs. Floresville Tigers/Jaguars

Boerne-Champion and Floresville are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Boerne-Champion Chargers will be taking part in a tournament against the Floresville Tigers/Jaguars at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Boerne-Champion is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Boerne-Champion ended up a good deal behind New Braunfels and lost 57-42.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Floresville on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Pearsall out of the water with a 63-27 final score. The Tigers/Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 24 points or more this season.

Floresville's win came from a few key players Boerne-Champion will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Amariah Ruiz, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordin Johns, who posted ten points along with seven steals and five assists.

Floresville was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February.

Floresville now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Boerne-Champion, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.

Boerne-Champion came up short against Floresville in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 54-50. Can Boerne-Champion avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
