Softball Recap: Florin Panthers vs. Fairfield Falcons

Florin extended their losing streak to eight on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 3-15 in the process. They came up short against the Fairfield Falcons, falling 26-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 25-0 back in April.

As for Fairfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by eight runs or more this season.

For Fairfield's part, Karli Robinson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Robinson has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles. Those five hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Fairfield let Mariah Giron and Claudia Lucero run wild. Giron went 4-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and four runs, while Lucero got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. With that strong performance, Lucero is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Shivani Knight, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.
