Basketball Recap: Fredericksburg Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Fredericksburg couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 52-35 to the La Vega Pirates. If the Billies were looking for revenge after losing 57-48 to them when the teams met back in November of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

La Vega got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was CeMaria Kelly out in front who en route to 16 points. Kelly is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Solange Loadholt was another key player, on her way to 11 points.

Fredericksburg's defeat dropped their record down to 31-7. As for La Vega, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 22 of their last 24 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 32-6 record this season.

Fredericksburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for La Vega, they will challenge Decatur at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Decatur sitting on 32 straight victories and La Vega on 15.
