Baseball Game Preview: Whitley County Colonels vs. Madison Central Indians

The Whitley County Colonels will face off against the Madison Central Indians at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Whitley County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Whitley County's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Pulaski County by a score of 4-0. The Colonels haven't had any issues with the Maroons recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Kip Allen was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Henry Bowling, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. EJ Allen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Madison Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They blew past Somerset 8-0 on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Whitley County's record is now 34-3. As for Madison Central, their record now sits at 22-10-2.

Whitley County got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2025 against Madison Central by a conclusive 9-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colonels since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
