Softball Recap: Summit Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Summit can now relate to. They came up short against the South El Monte Eagles on Thursday, falling 20-7. The SkyHawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Isabella Smith and Arianna Munoz did some serious damage despite the final result: Smith went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Munoz went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Aaliyah Garcia was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Summit's defeat dropped their record down to 15-13. As for South El Monte, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 21-5.

Summit does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South El Monte, they will square off against Long Beach Poly at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jackrabbits have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season.
