The Davis Sr. Blue Devils will face off against the Whitney Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Davis Sr. has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Davis Sr. is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Rocklin just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Thunder by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Blue Devils have suffered since March 11th.
Davis Sr. got a good showing from Noah Tafolla, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Tafolla hasn't allowed a single earned run since back in March.
On the hitting side, Davis Sr. saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Lanier, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Whitney had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory.
Not much got past Noah Warner, who gave up just five hits to keep Folsom off the board. Warner also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Whitney is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-9 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bryce Farris, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Whitney's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 10-11 when he doesn't). Tyler Jordan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.
Whitney kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
Whitney's win bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Davis Sr., their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7-1.
