Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Saint James' Eighth in Last Nine Outings

While Saint James put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Brantley. Saint James was the clear victor by an 8-0 margin over Brantley. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Peyton Middleton looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tatiana Shuford was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Stanford, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Saint James is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. Brantley has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season.

Saint James' road trip will continue as they head out to face Apollo at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Brantley, they will head out to face off against Russell County at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Brantley is facing Russell County at the right time seeing as Russell County is stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
