Basketball Recap: Cowanesque Valley Takes a Loss

Cowanesque Valley was the 48-47 winner over Canton when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cowanesque Valley Indians took a 71-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Canton Warriors on Friday.

Canton was led to victory by Ben Fitch and Talin Williams. Fitch almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards, while Williams went 7 of 13 on his way to 19 points along with five rebounds and five blocks. The game was Fitch's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Simon Wile was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Cowanesque Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Canton, their win bumped their record up to 7-12.

Cowanesque Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 67-53 defeat against Sayre on the 5th. As for Canton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 44-35 loss against Montgomery on the 3rd.
