Preview: St. Francis Spartans vs. IC Catholic Prep Knights
St. Francis has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the IC Catholic Prep Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully St. Francis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, St. Francis came up short against Boylan Catholic and fell 45-38.
Despite the defeat, St. Francis had strong showings from Natalie Doyle, who scored 2 points along with 12 rebounds and 6 steals, and Dolly Smith, who scored 12 points along with 7 rebounds. Arianna Naples was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Meanwhile, IC Catholic Prep earned a 52-39 victory over Rosary on Tuesday. Given IC Catholic Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Rosary is ranked 521st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Their wins bumped St. Francis to 6-3 and Boylan Catholic to 8-2.
St. Francis came up short against IC Catholic Prep in their previous matchup last Saturday, falling 61-57. Can St. Francis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
