Softball Recap: Susquehannock's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Susquehannock dropped their record down to 11-5 on Friday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Kennard-Dale Rams by a score of 3-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Warriors couldn't push the score so high this time.

Ella Wetzel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Susquehannock saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Karst, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

As for Kennard-Dale, they pushed their record up to 17-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games.

On Kennard-Dale's side, Taryn Ashenfelter was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Ashenfelter was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Susquehannock will welcome Northeastern at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Kennard-Dale does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
