Softball Recap: Crab Orchard Extends Road Winning Streak to 11

While Crab Orchard put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Mt. Vernon. The Trojans narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Rams 1-0. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won three in a row.

Jada Burnett-Hatton made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Crab Orchard pushed their record up to 18-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Mt. Vernon, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3.

The Trojans will take on Hardin County at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (61 vs. 423). Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon (ranked 59th) will meet Woodlawn (ranked 416th) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
